Every story begins with truth — but truth takes many shapes. For me, some stories are born from lived experience, where resilience, justice, and compassion form the heartbeat of my words. Others rise from myth and imagination, where ancient gods, destiny, and warriors call for a different kind of voice.

To honour these distinct paths, I write under two names: Kathrine Grover, truth-teller of the human spirit, and Kathrine Leannan, weaver of legend and fantasy.

Two names. Two worlds. One voice. True stories with pulse, and fantasy that transports.

I was born to two middle-class Australians who felt most at home in the bush. Ours was an itinerant life, moving from town to town for my father’s work.

By the time I finished school, I’d attended thirteen different schools—a childhood education in adaptability, observation, and learning how to read a room.

My mother was a nurse. In 1975, I followed her path and became a Registered Nurse and later, a Midwife. I went on to earn two additional degrees and a PhD, and built a long career in healthcare leadership.​​​
